Having already explored the town of Kirkintilloch and familiarised themselves with the area pretty well, they soon had an inkling of where they wanted to live.
The couple had watched Cala Homes’ Weaver’s Brae development being built from the ground up months prior and couldn’t stop thinking about this idyllic suburb.
After more research, Lucy and Fraser decided that a new-build home was perfect for them, so they quickly arranged a viewing of a Bryce four-bedroom housestyle, where they instantly fell in love with the layout, surroundings, and the five-star Cala service.
“When we made the decision to buy together, we knew quite quickly that we wanted a new-build home. Fraser works away for weeks at a time, so if we’d bought a house that needed a lot of work done, I’d be dealing with a lot of it on my own. Therefore, buying a new-build home that didn’t need any DIY, or construction was a no brainer for me,” said Lucy.
Having previously lived in a smaller, two-bedroom apartment in Glasgow city centre, the couple also particularly liked the fact the house was a larger detached style- perfect for Fraser playing his bagpipes whilst he’s home.
Lucy added: “For us, one of the main benefits of our new home is the size of it. We both feel like we have plenty of space to do our own things – for example, I can film cooking vlogs in the open-plan kitchen or work in my home office whilst Fraser can practise his pipes in the lounge.”
The 32-year-old couple first started their Cala journey in February 2024 and were given the keys to their new home in May, with the whole process from first viewing to moving-in taking only four months. Lucy partly credits this to Cala’s customer service.
Lucy continued: “We always assumed buying a house would be incredibly stressful, but the sales team at Cala hugely helped ease the whole process. Our time at home is precious, so I wanted this to be as quick and painless of a process as possible – it felt like Cala did everything for us, and any worries we had were taken away by not being in a chain.
The new homeowners are also enjoying the energy-efficient and cost-effective benefits of having a new-build home compared to their old tenement apartment, despite spending much more time in what Lucy now describes as their ‘forever home’.
“We chose the Bryce at Weaver’s Brae because ultimately, we could see ourselves spending a lifetime here, we can adapt the home to support us throughout all stages of life, including starting a family, and eventually retiring.”
Located in Kirkintilloch, Weaver’s Brae offers the best of both worlds with the semi-rural surroundings of East Dunbartonshire, yet with Glasgow city centre and beyond within easy reach.
