Remember today, you are deeply loved!

I try to send a wee communication every Friday morning to both our Kings Church family as well as some other friends.

It’s a combination of a wee thought for the day plus info about what’s coming up by way of events and stuff. Before I finish off my weekly musing I usually put the wee phrase, “Remember today, you are deeply loved!” However, recently I started my communication with this phrase because something incredible happened.

You see we had the great joy of welcoming into the world our first grandchild, baby Eli and what a gift! The stress of us nervously waiting before his arrival was punctuated by a video call to not only tell us but to show us our new grandson Eli. There were so many emotions flooding through that call but underlying all of it was something that was truly amazing.

As soon as we saw him we loved him! This wee guy didn’t have to do anything to gain or earn our love, we instantly and deeply loved him and would do anything for him!

So let me ask you a question as you read this, how do you think God views you? I’m sure there are a few responses that may go through your mind but I wonder if you’ve ever considered that God has an unconditional love for you that isn’t dependent on your performance. Listen to how the Apostle Paul reflects on this love that God has for us.

Ephesians 2:1-6 (Msg version)

It wasn’t so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin. You let the world, which doesn’t know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief, and then exhaled disobedience. We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us in the same boat. It’s a wonder God didn’t lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us. Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.

Remember today, you are deeply loved!

Blessings
