An interior designer working with luxury property developers Shelbourne Estates has revealed the latest trends at new show homes at Arden Park - a new development outside of the city on the outskirts of Redditch.
Georgina Hole of interior designers Clayton and Company, who collaborates closely with Shelbourne Estates, which is part of the Morris Homes Group, takes inspiration from a range of sources, including Pinterest, design exhibitions, and the local area, to create homes that are both stylish and practical.
Her work at Arden Park, captured by Shelbourne Estates in a stunning time-lapse video, combines modern design with the classic style that defines the collection of 1, 2, 3, and 4-bedroom homes.
“It’s not just about making a home look beautiful, it’s about helping potential buyers picture their lives there,” Georgina explained.
Her designs for the larger homes at Arden Park focus on a neutral, earthy colour palette with warm browns and washed wood finishes to create a cosy, welcoming atmosphere. One bold choice - a dark chocolate brown feature wall in a bedroom - has become a talking point.
“It adds warmth and depth, and people really remember it,” she said.
Practicality is also a priority. Bespoke carpentry, including a custom-built bookcase in the family room, adds both storage and a unique design feature.
“It’s those personal touches that make a space feel special,” Georgina added.
For the smaller homes, aimed at younger families, Georgina has opted for a more playful approach.
“We used rich reds and navy blues to create a fun, vibrant feel,” she explained. “For children’s bedroom designs, they are often inspired by the local area, adding a personal touch that makes the homes feel more connected to their surroundings.”
One of the standout design trends Georgina has used is colour drenching - painting walls, ceilings, and woodwork in the same colour to create a cosy, immersive effect.
“It works especially well in spaces like studies or family rooms,” she said.
Another trend gaining popularity is darker paint colours, moving away from the all-neutral look that has dominated interiors in recent years.
While she embraces new styles, Georgina also relies on timeless design staples. “Rattan furniture and bouclé upholstery are everywhere right now, and they’re not going anywhere soon,” she said.
Located near the village of Mappleborough Green, sitting adjacent to open countryside, Arden Park combines rural charm with modern convenience, while offering easy access to local schools, shops, and leisure facilities.
Meanwhile, nearby historical attractions include Forge Mill Needle Museum, Bordesley Abbey ruins, Compton Verney and Hidcote Manor & Gardens.
And with Birmingham 15 miles away, prospective residents will have access to a range of cultural events, including 50 annual festivals, and attractions including the Ikon Gallery and the Jewellery Quarter.
With thoughtfully designed interiors and high-quality craftsmanship, the development showcases contemporary living at its best brought to life through Georgina’s creative vision.
Joanne McGarvey, Regional Sales Director, Shelbourne Estates, praised Georgina’s work, saying, “We love working with Georgina - her ability to blend the latest trends with practical, family-friendly design brings our homes to life and creates spaces that truly resonate with our buyers.”
The area is serviced with excellent transport links, with access to the motorway network via the M42 just four miles away, or the M40, eight miles away, as well as trains connecting Redditch to Birmingham and beyond.
With the show homes ready for viewing, prospective buyers can now explore the estate and envision life in this historic setting. Demand is expected to be high, so early viewings are strongly recommended.
