The Lord Mayor demonstrated his skills behind the bar pouring a perfect pint regulars enjoy at the iconic pub on Bishopsgate Street just off Broad Street.  Peg & Grillowner Mr Kam Singh Chohan welcomed the Lord and Lady Mayor, walking them around the venue and explaining the £500,000 investment insensitively refurbishing this historic pub.

A £500 cheque presentation was made to the Lord Mayor’s Charity. The Lord Mayor of Birmingham's Charity raises funds for local charities that impact the people of Birmingham and benefit the economic, health, and  social wellbeing of Birmingham's residents.

The Peg & Grill is a stunning Pub incorporating an Indian Restaurant. It has to be visited to appreciate the scale of the operation. The ground floor houses a lounge and a separate seating area, but its unique offer is a private 12 seater dining space housing historical works of art.  Upstairs offers a full floor bar and dining area where the building’s original features, including a fireplace, can be enjoyed.  The building was thankfully saved from demolition allowing future generations to experience an architectural gem in Brum.

Birmingham recently hosted a two day night time economic summit. With nightlife serving as a driving force for culture, tourism, and employment, the summit highlighted critical efforts being made to ensure continued growth and sustainability.  The Peg & Grill is an independently owned business that sits in the shadow of large corporate brands that dominate Broad Street. Mr Chohan told me “The Peg & Grillis proud to be a member of the small business community shaping our local economy and enhancing the vibrancy of our community.”  These sentiments were echoed by Cllr Ken Wood who said “Independents do not have the buying power of large chain pubs but thrive by providing a unique personalised offer. They attract regular customers contributing to the ambiance and attraction of the venue.”

Mr Chohan shared the vision of the Peg & Grill “…we have redefined the pub and grill experience with a modern and intimate decor, created a comfortable and inviting atmosphere and offer a curated selection of handpicked drinks,” adding “we can’t guarantee the Lord Mayor will be on hand to pour your perfect pint but we can guarantee one of our trained staff will be, come and see us.”  pegandgrill.co.uk
