The Beaufort Park Store opened in 1990, transforming the former B&Q premises and bringing its high-quality and great-value products to the UK for the first time.
There has been lots of change to the store over the past 35 years, with some of the key moments during this time including:
- Introducing Specialbuys in 2000 - the popular middle aisle Specialbuys arrived in 2000, bringing a treasure trove of seasonal and limited-time products to people in Stechford.
- Digital pricing in 2001 – colleagues at the Stechford store memorised all prices until 2001 instead of ringing them through the tills.
- Surplus food donations from 2012 – Aldi has provided food donations to local causes from its Stechford store since 2012.
- Extending the store in 2015 – Aldi extended the store into the former Farmfoods location ten years ago, marking its dedication to the development of the entire Beaufort Park site.
- Partnering with Teenage Cancer Trust in 2017 – since working with Teenage Cancer Trust, Aldi has raised over £11m.
Fast forward to today, Aldi’s Stechford store now employs 32 colleagues and is one of more than 1,050 Aldi stores across the UK.
Marius Manolescu, Regional Managing Director at Aldi UK, said: “We’re thrilled to be celebrating 35 years of Aldi in Stechford, a store which is such a core part of our history within the UK.
“The site has developed greatly over the years, from the introduction of Special buys to wider partnerships with Teenage Cancer Trust.
“We’d like to thank each of the 32 colleagues in Stechford for their continued dedication and look forward to celebrating with them for many years to come.”
