Access Creative College Birmingham students shortlisted for Inspirational Youth Awards

Students from Access Creative College Birmingham are celebrating after being shortlisted for prizes at this year’s Inspirational Youth Awards. The Inspirational Youth Awards are annual awards celebrating young people aged 16-25 who drive positive impact through innovation, compassion and dedication.

This year’s award nominees include Skye Clark (Graphics and Digital Design) for Young Carer of the Year, Kenrick Smith (Vocal Artist) for Young Artist of the Year, Kevan Fairweather (Music Technology) for Arts & Culture Award and Young Artist of the Year, and ACC Birmingham alumni Madi Saskia who is up for Young Artist of the Year.

Skye Clarke, up for Young Carer of the Year, has been a carer for her mother who has spina bifida for several years, whilst navigating passing her GCSEs and moving onto college. She has since taken her experience of caring for others and channelled it into offering emotional and practical support to other young carers. She has recently become a peer mentor, with the hopes of further inspiring and guiding young people.

It's surreal to see something that is such a casual part of my life be seen as something so inspirational to others. I've worked hard to get to the point I'm at and hope to push others further from this point on.” - Skye Clarke, ACC Birmingham Graphics student and Young Carer of the Year nominee.

Access Creative College Birmingham’s campus team are throwing their full support behind Skye and her fellow student nominees, with Head of Campus Zoe Green saying “We are so proud of our Birmingham students who have been nominated for this amazing achievement. We wish them all the best of luck and we can't wait to watch their success stories”.

Winners will be announced at a lavish awards ceremony on Saturday, April 12 at The Eastside Rooms. The event is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased on the  Inspirational Youth Awards website.
