Supported by Bullring, who have provided the retail space free of charge, the pop-up will feature clothing and accessories from big name retailers including Whistles, Hush, Varley and others. Shoppers can expect a curated mix of high street and designer labels, all at discounted rates - with the added benefit of supporting a charity with a clear and impactful mission.

Smart Works Birmingham provides free, one-to-one styling and coaching to women who are out of work and struggling with preparing for job interviews. Each client receives an interview outfit to keep, followed by practical coaching in attempts builds confidence, helping them to perform at their best. The charity has showcased their tangible impact nationally, with 63% of Smart Works clients across the country going on to get the job they interviewed for within a month of their first appointment.

Lily Clements from Smart Works Birmingham shared her excitement on the pop-up:

“This pop-up is a brilliant way for people to support women across our region who are working incredibly hard to get back into employment, no matter their financial and mental position. Every sale helps us in providing coaching, new clothing and, most importantly, a new-found confidence to someone who really needs it.

We’re incredibly grateful to have Bullring’s support to bring this to life - having such a central, high-profile location for the week means we can reach even more people with our mission, and help even more women along the way.”

The majority of women who come to Smart Works face significant barriers to employment, including financial hardship, long-term unemployment and low self-esteem. Many arrive without suitable clothing for an interview and often lacking belief in their own ability. By providing practical tools and personal support, Smart Works helps them turn a daunting experience into a moment of possibility.

Daniella Bozward, Marketing & Placemaking Manager from Bullring added:

“We’re proud to support Smart Works Birmingham and to provide the space for their pop-up. This initiative sits at the heart of what Bullring is all about - supporting the local community and creating opportunities for people to thrive. We hope our visitors will get behind it and enjoy discovering some brilliant fashion finds while supporting an even better cause.”

The Birmingham centre is one of 11 Smart Works locations across the UK. Since opening in 2016, the team has supported over 2,000 local women - and demand continues to grow.

Visit the Smart Works pop-up on Link Street, Bullring, Birmingham from 10–17 April. Every purchase supports the charity’s mission to empower unemployed women to succeed at interview and transform their lives.
