Leading Birmingham property consultancy embarks on epic fundraising relay

A leading Birmingham property consultancy is embarking on an epic fundraising challenge which will see colleagues run, walk, cycle, kayak, horseback ride, and ski 115 miles over 7 days to their Newark office, to support one of the city’s most cherished charities.

The Fisher German team visited Birmingham Children’s Hospital as they set off on the relay and met with representatives from the charity and mascot Bertie Bear.

Fisher German is celebrating its 25th anniversary with its ‘Big 25’ charity challenge, where colleagues will travel between the firm’s 25 UK office locations without using motorised transport.

This giant 25-week relay aims to raise at least £25,000 which will be distributed among 25 charities.

The firm has also pledged to match-fund any donations up to £25,000 from supporters, meaning a total of £50,000 could be split between the charities.

A team from Fisher German’s Birmingham office, based on Colmore Row, were passed the relay baton from colleagues from the firm’s London office who cycled, ran and walked up the Grand Union Canal.

The team has chosen the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity as its beneficiary.

The hospital is a leading, specialist paediatric centre, delivering some of the most advanced treatments and complex surgical procedures to children and young people from across the UK and beyond.

Any funds raised will go towards the It Starts Here campaign, which aims to turn the hospital entrance into a welcoming and child-friendly space to help reduce patients’ fear and anxiety.

Fisher German’s team met the charity’s mascot Bertie Bear, and major client Hortons, which is also Fisher German’s landlord for its Colmore Row office, also showed its support by providing refreshments at a stop off in Old Dalby to those taking part in the Birmingham leg of the challenge.

The Big 25 challenge coincides with Fisher German undergoing a major rebrand, positioning it as a pioneering, driven consultancy with trusted experts who share knowledge across the business and provide substantial added value to clients.

The firm has also updated its external logo and colours to reflect a shift in mindset, a change in its growth strategy, and its future ambitions.

Future Big 25 legs will see colleagues travel by tandem bikes, unicycles, open water swimming, and even conga line as part of the mammoth 2,400-mile journey between the offices.

Partner, Ashish Patel, who works in the commercial property management team at Fisher German, said: “We’re extremely pleased to make our way to the Newark office for the second leg of the relay.

“We became Fisher German in September 2000 following the merger of property firms Fisher Hoggarth and John German, but our roots, however, stretch back to pre-1830. The firm has grown considerably, and the relay is a fantastic way to unite colleagues from right across the business.

“The whole team has come together to put together a fun route with all kinds of unique modes of travel for our leg.

“We’re also very pleased to be supporting Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity. The hospital is incredibly well-loved and does fantastic work providing vital treatment to thousands of children every single year.

“The It Starts Here campaign will transform the entrance of the hospital, providing a welcoming space for all those receiving treatment. As well as our Big 25 event, we’ll be looking to do even more sponsored challenges to show our support in the future.”

Katie Harris, Corporate Partnerships officer at Birmingham Children's Hospital Charity, said: "What an epic challenge! We're thrilled to be one of the chosen charity partners for this event, as the money raised will be supporting the transformation of our main entrance, improving the hospital experience for the 100,000 sick kids we treat each year.

“Best of luck to all the teams, everyone at the hospital and charity will be cheering them on!"
