Amongst the winners this year is KPM Marine Ltd of Birmingham for Innovation – for its Predator Failsafe long-life run-dry emergency pumps for commercial and naval vessels. It is the second award for KPM Marine for Innovation in just three years following their success in 2022 for their shock mitigation seating.
The other Birmingham recipient is Made Media Ltd for International Trade – as a global leader in digital products and design for arts and cultural organisations.
Three other West Midlands' companies received the award for International Trade: Bowers and Jones Ltd of Bilston, Wolverhampton for supplying high-quality, high-performance tooling to the global steel and copper industry; Exol (Holdings) Limited of Wednesbury, Sandwell as the UK's largest independent lubricants company, supplying automotive, agricultural, rail and industrial applications to more than 40 countries, and RunFlat International Limited of Cradley Heath, Sandwell for as supplier of run flat inserts, military wheels and complete wheel solutions.
Nationally, there are 199 recipients in the 2025 awards with 161 receiving an award for international trade, 46 in innovation, 27 in sustainable development and ten for promoting opportunity.
The Lord-Lieutenant of the West Midlands congratulated each of the companies and said he was looking forward to visiting the recipients to present their Awards.
“The King’s Award for Enterprise is recognised worldwide as the ultimate and greatest business accolade. Each of the five companies is able to demonstrate with this award that they represent the very best in business and whilst each of their stories and backgrounds are different, they share a common goal of being the very best in their field,” said Mr Anderson.
“The award process for the King’s Award for Enterprise is rigorous and demanding – with a forensic approach to assessment that probes every aspect of the company and goes well beyond the area for which the business is being recognised. In consequence, it is recognised internationally and is able to ‘open doors’ to many UK and worldwide opportunities.
“Each company is inspiring – to their staff, their suppliers and to their customers – and all serve as an endorsement for the hard work, creativity and ingenuity of the West Midlands. All of us in the West Midlands can be proud of their achievements,” Mr Anderson said.
Recipients of the Kings Award for Enterprise are invited to a Royal reception, presented with the award at their company by The Lord-Lieutenant, can fly The King’s Award flag at their main office, and use the emblem on their marketing materials for five years. They also receive a Grant of Appointment (an official certificate) and a commemorative trophy.
