Room lights on a flexible belt and a 3D laser measuring tool are among new products launching at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show (NEC, Birmingham 20-23 March)

An ingenious lighting system where a belt with an internal power supply provides flexible lighting for lofts and high ceilings, and a new easy-to-use laser measuring tool which provides images in 2D and 3D are two of the new products enjoying their UK launch at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show at the NEC, Birmingham from 20-23 March.

Flexible Uline belt lighting from Paulmann Licht GmbH

German lighting manufacturer, Paulmann Licht GmbH, will be showcasing its ULine belt lighting system which will allow users to install lighting anywhere in a room, regardless of ceiling height. The tear-resistant belts can be attached to the ceiling, the wall or even the floor. The internal power supply makes it possible to position the light exactly where it is needed. The straps, which are available in several colours, are made of durable material which can be cut to the desired length with scissors. Users can add a light bar or choose their own style of light fittings to attach to the belt from spots, balls or pendant light shades.

Marketing Communication Manager at Paulmann Licht GmbH Alexandra Brüggemann says, “We believe that the right lighting gives a room atmosphere and creates a feeling of comfort. Our new ULine belt system creates unique, individual and creative lighting installations in all rooms and places the light exactly where it’s needed. At the same time, installation is so flexible that ULine offers the ideal solution where classic light systems quickly reach their limits. That’s why we are excited to be showing this system in Birmingham.”

Also at the Homebuilding & Renovating Show, UK-based Trade Survey, which distributes high-quality laser measuring and surveying equipment, will be introducing the Leica iCON iCS50, a precision 3D laser measurement and layout tool developed by Swiss manufacturer Leica Geosystems.

The Leica iCON iCS50 can be carried onto a site, set up, and operated by one person. Smart features such as the ‘quick-mount’ tripod and the ‘auto-setup’ process make the device easy to use and help avoid mistakes. The camera live stream delivers sharp images, which allows the user to see on a tablet what the Leica iCON iCS50 sees and to measure any point accurately. For measurements on reflective or glossy surfaces including glass, the Leica ICON iCS50 comes with a unique, wireless vPEN to capture measurement data effortlessly and accurately. It provides real-time data visualisation in 2D or 3D, making it easy for anyone to use.

Trade Survey head of business marketing, Stuart Ward, says, “The Leica iCON iCS50 is particularly suitable for users who want to move from traditional, manual measurement and layout methods to digital workflows. It offers high-precision 3D measurement, which captures complex shapes, sizes, and spaces effortlessly. It’s ideal for professionals working on self-build projects, high-end interiors, custom furniture, and commercial fitouts, and it ensures accuracy even when working with inaccessible areas.”

He believes the new laser measurer is ideal for a large number of users, including interior designers, kitchen fitters, architects, surveyors and shop and office fitters.

Trade Survey (stand D210) and Paulmann Licht GmbH (stand E142) will join more than 380 exhibitors, offering visitors the opportunity to see, touch and compare the latest products to help them realise their dream homes.
