As part of their Winter Gift Programme to support those in need, the school organised a collection of non-perishable items to donate to Aston & Nechells Foodbank.
The local charity provides emergency food parcels and support for individuals and families experiencing food poverty, ensuring that no one in the community goes hungry during difficult times. The response from pupils and their families was overwhelming, with countless items donated to help stock the foodbank's shelves ahead of the winter season.
A group of dedicated pupils also took part in the Big Sleep Out - organised by St Basils Charity - to gain a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by those without a permanent home.
Held at Millennium Point in Birmingham, the fundraising event challenged pupils to 'sleep rough for one night in Birmingham City Centre so a young person doesn’t have to'.
The school’s efforts demonstrate a profound commitment to their core values of compassion and community engagement. Whether through food donations or active participation in fundraising events, pupils and staff have shown how collective action can bring hope and relief to those most in need.
The Winter Gift Programme is an annual campaign which sees pupils and staff from every Star Academies school unite to participate in a broad range of charitable giving, acts of kindness and volunteering; all with one simple aim – to make sure no one faces the challenges of winter alone.
