Lyndon School, part of the Summit Learning Trust, recently hosted an inspiring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) day for 120 of its Year 8 learners, delivered and fully funded by leading training provider In-Comm.
The day saw learners take on the exciting challenge of designing and engineering a machine to transport balls over a mountain, combining innovation with teamwork and hands on problem solving. From concept to construction, learners worked in teams to test ideas, adapt designs, and overcome engineering obstacles, mirroring the skills required in real world STEM careers.
More than just a fun challenge, the event introduced learners to the wide range of possibilities within the STEM sector. With UK industries crying out for the next generation of engineers, designers, and technicians, days like this give learners an early insight into exciting future pathways.
The event was part of Lyndon School’s ongoing commitment to promoting careers education and encouraging all learners to explore future opportunities through enriching experiences.
Head of School, Syreeta Kapswara said:
"It was wonderful to see our learners so engaged, energised, and excited about STEM. The challenge sparked creativity and encouraged real collaboration and resilience. We’re grateful to In-Comm for delivering such a valuable experience and for helping our learners see the relevance of these skills beyond the classroom.”
