Stage2 Youth Theatre has places available for the Summer Term

Stage2, Birmingham's longest-running youth theatre, is just about to finish its packed Spring Term! We launched a brand new workshop option, moved to a fantastic venue, The Hub Hazelwell, and have produced an amazing production of Tales from Ovid to be performed in the Crescent Theatre next week! We’re not stopping there though! We’re thrilled to announce that the Summer Term is just around the corner, starting on April 27th!

At Stage2, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive and welcoming space for young people aged 7-21 to develop their drama skills, build confidence, and make lifelong friendships. We offer a range of workshops and activities, alongside our full-scale productions, and as always, there are no auditions required to join. Here’s a sneak peek at the exciting options we’ll be offering:

Summer Show - Jekyll and Hyde: This summer, we’re reimagining the classic tale of Jekyll and Hyde with a contemporary twist, thanks to the brilliant playwright Evan Placey. This inventive version of the story explores modern issues, with a focus on the truth in a world dominated by science and technology. The Cast has already been decided, but the Chorus is open to anyone who wants to join (no audition necessary!). Rehearsals will take place in the mornings, with the Cast and Chorus working together on big, dynamic scenes. With some exciting new character twists and a modern take on the story, this promises to be a thrilling production!

General Drama - Goodnight Mr Tom: We’re bidding farewell to the fantastic Tom McMillan, who has been with us for the last two years as he finishes his studies at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and heads to London to kickstart his acting career. In his final term, Tom will share his personal drama highlights, from the games he’s taught to the lessons he’s learned - expect a lot of laughs and a huge variety of exercises! While Tom will be moving on, General Drama will continue with a new leader - stay tuned for more details!

Stage1: This popular group for 7-11-year-olds will continue to be led by the wonderful Eve and Alice. The Stage1 group combines fun games and exercises designed to help participants make friends, build confidence, and develop drama skills. The term will culminate in a fabulous Sharing, where Stage1 members will showcase all they’ve learned to their friends and family!

Friends and Fun Workshop: By popular demand, we’re bringing back this stress-free, fun-filled option for the Summer Term! Led by the ever-popular Ryan, this workshop will focus on enjoying fun games - both drama-related and general. There’s no pressure, no exams, and no responsibilities - just a chance to unwind, connect with friends, and have an awesome time! This option is perfect for those needing a break from school or anyone looking for some creative, lighthearted fun.
