Targeting areas including Manchester, Bolton, Oldham, and Sale, SpaMedica’s campaign utilises local press, radio advertisements and door drops to raise awareness of patient choice and highlight the factors that contribute to it. This includes quality of outcomes, location and ease of access, and reviews from service users.

The campaign, will also distribute patient education materials to local optometrists, which will help to facilitate important conversations and inform patients of their right to choose a treatment provider.

Key campaign highlights:

·        Prior to being referred for cataract surgery with SpaMedica, 49% did not know they had the right to choose where to have their NHS treatment

·        Over 98% of SpaMedica’s patients regain driving-standard vision after surgery

·        Over 18,000 5-star patient reviews on the NHS.uk

·        Referral to treatment times at SpaMedica’s hospitals average just 4-8 weeks.

Dr Alex Silvester, Chief Medical Officer at SpaMedica says: “Our campaign encourages patients to visit their optometrist if they have any concerns about their vision or eye health, and to choose the treatment provider that’s right for them. It’s not just about raising awareness of patient choice – it’s about giving patients the information they need to make an informed choice.”

SpaMedica aims to strengthen relationships between optometrists and their patients by offering a reliable referral option that prioritises patient care. Optometrists can confidently refer patients to SpaMedica, knowing that all of the provider’s hospitals inspected by the Care Quality Commission are rated “Good” or “Outstanding”, and that patients benefit from excellent outcomes.
