Bristol Old Vic Theatre School graduate Denzel Baidoo joins cast for London show this Christmas

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School alumni, Denzel Baidoo, has been announced as one of the cast for London theatre show, The Fir Tree, this Christmas.

Denzel Baidoo

Denzel Baidoo graduated from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2020. This winter, he joins the cast of The Fir Tree at artsdepot in Barnet, London.

His role in The Fir Tree follows his run in Dear England, in which he played Bukayo Saka in the National Theatre’s West End Transfer at Prince Edward Theatre.

Baidoo joins fellow cast members Samuel Heron and Loren O' Dair in How It Ended’s adaptation of the Hans Christian Anderson classic from 12th - 31st December.

Fusing live music and song, live foley sound effects and puppetry, this poignant and playful production is a festive delight for the whole family, with moral lessons around the enduring power of friendship, the legacy of great stories, and the importance of living in the present moment. The story centres around a young fir tree, who is not content with the sunlight and wind it receives, nor with its forest friends, but rather wishes to be bigger and older. The story's core themes surrounding mental health, wellbeing, and environmental responsibility have universal relatability and promote urgent lessons that will speak to audiences of all ages.

The Fir Tree is being brought to life by How It Ended, the creators of Wild (Unicorn Theatre) and The Little Gardener (UK Tour), as part of artsdepot 20th anniversary celebrations. All performances are Sensory Adapted and have been created with neurodiverse audiences in mind.

Writer and Co-Founder of How It Ended Teresa Burns comments, We are very excited to announce our cast for The Fir Tree at artsdepot this Christmas. All three performers are brilliantly talented actors, as well as musicians, and we know they’ll bring this beautiful story to life with plenty of charm, wit and playfulness. We can’t wait to get into the rehearsal room!
