Children at Hillcroft Primary School in Caterham showed their support for Children in Need by swapping their school uniforms for spotty outfits, onesies and Pudsey Bear costumes.

As part of fundraising activities for the annual charity appeal, the West Ewell school held a competition for the Early Years and Key Stage 1 children, where they could pay 50p each to guess the name of the teddy.

Key Stage 2 pupils did their bit for the cause by paying to guess the number of objects in a jar, with the winner taking home the container and its contents.

All the children at Danetree, which is part of the GLF Schools Multi-Academy Trust, also enjoyed a non-uniform day for Children in Need on Friday 15 November, with the school hoping to have raised around £800 for the charity this year.

“Events like this are very important to support teaching children about the importance of charities – what they are, and how each one helps different members of our society in need,” said Danetree Reception Class Teacher Tracy Willemse.

“They promote diversity, equality and inclusion, and allow some children to be represented. They also promote discussion, and gain support from the local community for these worthy causes.”
