Staff at the firm raised the funds during an almost two year partnership with the centre that began in January 2023 and has just ended.
During this time, they held a Christmas social, undertook a sponsored walk and organised and hosted a glittering black tie ball for more 160 guests, many of them clients, at Barton’s Barton Manor Hotel & Spa. The ball was also attended by the MND centre’s co-director, consultant neurologist Prof Suresh Chhetri, who was joined by a team of centre nurses and therapists.
Practice founder and CEO Mark Hall said: “As a company, we believe in supporting our community by fundraising for local charities. This cause was especially close to our hearts as a family member of one of our team was diagnosed with MND in 2022.
“Through her, we were given the opportunity to meet with Prof Chhetri, who inspired us to fundraise for both the centre’s disease research and patient-led projects.”
The Lancashire and South Cumbria MND Care and Research Centre provides holistic and multidisciplinary care to patients with MND from throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria. It is one of the country’s 23 national MND centres.
The centre also participates in a number of multicentre and multinational research studies, including drug trials. It is an ENCALS (European network to Cure ALS) and TRICALS (the largest European research initiative to find a cure for MND) centre.
Prof Chhetri said: “We are extremely grateful for this incredibly generous donation. The dedication and commitment demonstrated by MJH Accountants, in supporting our MND centre, has been nothing short of extraordinary and this means a lot to all of us, our patients and families. The efforts of MJH accountancy team will undoubtedly make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of patients and families affected by MND, offering them much needed hope and assistance”.
