In the glowing report, inspectors recognised the school’s high expectations, nurturing atmosphere and strong values that guide pupils to “grow, believe and succeed.” The school’s commitment to academic excellence and personal growth was also praised, with pupils achieving highly and consistently demonstrating respect, inclusivity and kindness.

The report notes the school's exceptional approach to personal development, describing it as “exemplary.” Pupils develop a strong understanding of the protected characteristics and know what these mean in law, equipping them with the knowledge and values to thrive in a diverse society. The school’s imaginative ‘Beanstalk’ display showcases the vast range of experiences pupils will enjoy throughout their time at Sale and Davys—both within and beyond the classroom—helping to nurture social, moral, spiritual and cultural awareness.

The quality of education, leadership and management, behaviour and attitudes, and early years provision were all rated “Good,” reflecting the school’s strong leadership under Headteacher Sarah Briggs and its integration within the Derby Diocesan Academy Trust. Inspectors highlighted the “united team of staff” and the “happy family” atmosphere that permeates the school.

“We are delighted that Ofsted recognised the incredible work of our staff, the positive attitudes of our pupils, and the strong community we’ve built here at Sale and Davys,” said Headteacher Sarah Briggs. “This report reflects our unwavering dedication to helping every child flourish academically, personally and spiritually.”

Reading was another standout area, with younger pupils making rapid progress thanks to a well-structured phonics programme. The report also praised how staff quickly identify and support children who need extra help, ensuring that all pupils get the best possible start.

Chief Executive Officer of the Derby Diocesan Academy Trust, Dr Sarah Clark, added: “This report reflects the school’s strength as a caring, inclusive, and high-performing learning community. We are incredibly proud of the staff and pupils at Sale and Davys.”
