An annual Christmas highlight will take place for the final time this year after more than 20 years of lighting up the festive period.

Nuthall Christmas Lights will light up for the last time this year.

Since 2003, Tony Swift and his wife Wendy have been lighting up the front of their house and garden on Laurel Crescent to raise money for charity.

And over the years, the event and the display has become more and more popular.

Over the years, Tony and Wendy have raised more than £250,000 for the charities When You Wish Upon A Star and Nottingham Hospitals Charity – Hayward House Hospice Appeal.

But now, the popular annual display is set to come to an end with the final lights event taking place at the end of this year.

This is depsite it being as popular as ever with another £26,000 raised this Christmas just gone.

Posting on the Nuthall Christmas Lights Facebook page, Tony and Wendy said: “We, the Swift family, have taken the difficult decision to 2025 our last year for displaying Nuthall Christmas Lights in our garden at Laurel Crescent.

"This has not been an easy decision to arrive at, as we appreciate it means a lot to so many and is has become a yearly tradition to visit the lights.

"However, we feel it is the right time to bring it to an end.

"In 2025 we will have been raising money for 22 years and have raised over £250,000 in this time for When You Wish Upon A Star and Nottingham Hospitals Charity – Hayward House Hospice Appeal.

And over the years, we have met many lovely people with hundreds of memories – we hope you feel the same.
