I want to congratulate Juliet Campbell on her election and I hope that she has as much enjoyment in the role as I had.
Not everyone would have agreed with every decision I made whilst I was the MP.
But my intention was always to make the decision that I thought was right for Broxtowe and improve our community, not for me, but for our children and grandchildren.
I am proud of the work I have done over the past four years.
We have had difficulties with Covid, but we still got a remarkable amount done in the time we had.
We secured £16.5 million for Kimberley through ‘Kimberley Means Business’ and £21.1 million in Stapleford through the Stapleford Towns Deal.
One of the many things this money has done is helped local businesses that are a vital part of Broxtowe’s community.
I engaged with Friends of Bennerley Viaduct in 2020 regarding the Eastern Ramp (Awsworth-end) that they needed, so I made sure that it was included in the ‘Kimberley Means Business’ bid and it is currently being built.
We have secured lifts at a local train station, restored face-to-face services with a banking hub on a high street, funding to rebuild a local school, Pharmacy First and so much more.
I even managed to have a huge impact on changing the law around parental leave following a constituency surgery.
I want to give a huge thank you for all those that I worked with to make this possible.
I was looking forward to another term of serving Broxtowe with the addition of representing Eastwood and Brinsley, but Broxtowe has had its say.
It has been the honour of my life to serve Broxtowe, thank you for giving me that opportunity.
