Eastwood man in court on burglary and theft charges

An Eastwood man has appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court charged with burglary, attempted burglary and theft from a motor vehicle.

Brown was remanded in custody after appearing at Nottingham Magistrates Court.

Alan Brown, aged 49, of South Street, Eastwood, appeared before magistrates on April 18 following an extensive police investigation.

Inquiries were carried out, including trawling through CCTV footage, after it was reported an intruder entered a property in Three Tuns Road, Eastwood, on April 14.

An attempted house break-in also happened in Brunel Avenue, Eastwood, on April 15 and tools were stolen from a van in Brunel Avenue, Newthorpe, overnight between Sunday and Monday.

Response officers on patrol in Eastwood arrested a suspect on April 16 after conducting area searches.

Brown was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on May 16.

Liam O’Kane, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Investigating burglaries and supporting victims is a key priority for the force because we understand the impact this type of invasive crime can have on people’s lives.

“I’m pleased a suspect has been charged and remanded in connection with these alleged offences and we now await the outcome of this case through the courts.

"Cracking down on burglary has been a local policing priority in the Broxtowe borough since the start of the year.

"Ongoing work to tackle the issue has included increased hot-spot patrols, daily targeted arrests of offenders, investigative ownership by the local CID team and crime prevention advice to victims.

"This targeted police activity has resulted in several suspects being arrested and charged."
