Posting on it’s Facebook page, the council said: “Calling all crocheters, knitters we need you.
"After last years fantastic response we are once again asking if you crochet or knit and want to get involved, we would like to start collecting crocheted or knitted poppies for Remembrance, where we will create a second display at the War Memorial.
“For anyone interested you can find the patterns below or on our website at kimberley-tc.gov.uk or you can email the council clerk at theclerk@kimberley-tc.gov.uk for a copy.
“Alternatively, follow this link to make a crocheted poppy, spinayarncrochet.com/poppy-free-crochet-pattern/ and this link for a knitted poppy, gathered.how/.../free-knitted-poppy-pattern...
“Please drop all poppies off at the Kimberley Town Council office located in the portacabin at Kimberley Institute Cricket Club, Monday to Friday between 11am and 2pm.
The council has also said it will not be distributing poppy wreaths for individual use for the Remembrance Service this year.
Anyone wishing to order one themselves can contact Margaret Handley on 07811 339145 but they are asked to do so as soon as possible as the order needs to be placed imminently.
Kimberley Remembrance will take place on Sunday, November 10, beginning at 10am with a service at Holy Trinity Church.
There will then be a parade at 10.40am to the war memorial where the laying of wreaths and Act of Remembrance will follow.
Refreshments will be served at Rumbletums Cafe afterwards.
This year’s Poppy Appeal launches on Saturday, October 26 and a launch event will be taking place that day at Giltbrook Retail Park from 10am.
Eastwood Colliery Male Voice Choir will be singing at the event, along with other musical contributions, including the Seaforth Highlanders Notts Band, as well as a display of military vehicles and an exhibition by the shops.
There will also be a service and Act of Remembrance at 11am.
