On the right hand side is the Queen’s Head pub, which in the 50s had an entrance on James Street as well as Main Street.
Next door is the newsagents at number 2, and had been run by Billy Moulds for many years. At the time this picture was taken, it was being run by Mrs Tyldesly, who’s husband, Harold, advertised his taxi firm, Kimberley Hire Service over the shop doorway.
Harold also ran his Orchard Storage and Distribution Service at 6 James Street. It was previously occupied by Messrs Blanchard, Bakers. In 1966 it became A. Plumb and Son hardware shop and Carl’s Hairdressers.
