Eastwood school has first Oxbridge student after bumper crop of A-level results

Students at Hall Park Academy in Eastwood have achieved superb A-level and vocational results in this summer’s examinations.

Students at Hall Park Academy in Eastwood are celebrating great A-level results.

Almost half of all students achieved an A*, A or B and many will now go on to study at university and other pathways, including prestigious degree apprenticeships.

The vast majority of students gained places at their first-choice university.

Hall Park’s highest achieving student was head girl Lily, who achieved A*A*A and will is going to read history and politics at Cambridge University and will be the first student from Hall Park to go to an Oxbridge University.

She said: “I am overwhelmed and very happy, I feel very grateful, I had a great support system.”

Emma Kelly, head of sixth form at Hall Park, said, ‘Huge congratulations to Lily, she truly deserves these fantastic results and her place at Cambridge.

"She has been a tremendous asset to the school in her role as head girl and we are all very proud of her.”

Oscar achieved A,B, B and a distinction* in ICT and will go on to study football business and media with the University Campus of Football Business.

He said, ‘I am pleased with my results and excited to start my course – thank you to my teachers at Hall Park.”

Hall Park's head boy, Bradley, achieved grades of A, B and C and will be studying biomedical sciences at Leeds Beckett University.

He said: "I am very happy with my results, all the hours of hard work paid off.

"Thank you to the staff at Hall Park for everything, I couldn’t have done it without you.”

David Crossley, headteacher, said: “We are hugely proud of all our year 13 students and what they have achieved.

"Their results are the culmination of many years of hard work and we wish them all the very best for the bright futures that they have ahead of them.”

Hall Park is part of the Redhill Academy Trust.

Students have benefitted from support from the trust throughout their time at the school, including events to broaden their horizons, raise aspirations and support their progression to higher education.

Hall Park also has a small number of sixth form places still available for September.

The sixth form open evening is Wednesday, November 6 and all interested students and parents are invited to attend.
