Young Eastwood and Kimberley bookworms can take on summer reading challenge

Calling all young book fans, the summer reading challenge is on the way at Eastwood and Kimberley libraries.

Youngster can sign up for the summer reading challenge at their local library next month.

The challenge invites children aged four to 11-years-old to read six, or more, library books over the summer.

There are stickers for every book read with a medal and certificate for every child who completes the challenge.

Children will be introduced to a cast of characters who are members of their local creative club and getting ready to show their work at a big festival.

But - some objects have mysteriously gone missing from the club's creative toolbox.

Join the challenge to help the Marvellous Makers search for the missing objects to help complete their creations.

Children can sign up for free for the challenge at their local library from July 6.

They can choose the books they want to read - story books, fact books, poetry, graphic novels, e-books or audio books -  they all count.

Children can also take part online at summerreadingchallenge.org.uk

There is also the mini challenge for under-fours, in which little readers can collect six stickers to earn a special gold sticker.
