Eastwood title charge is put on ice

The freezing weather conditions over the past week dealt a blow to Eastwood's promotion charge, postponing last weekend's clash against Shirebrook Town.

Eastwood managers Martin Ball and Daryll Thomas are frustrated the team has to sit on the sidelines again this weekend.

And with a reshuffle of fixtures now in place, the Red Badgers will also be without a match this Saturday, further stalling their momentum.

Both managers, Martin Ball and Daryll Thomas, expressed their frustration with the situation.

Ball said: “It’s obviously disappointing to lose another fixture to the weather.

“After last week’s result against Hucknall, the lads were eager to get back out there and right the wrongs”

Thomas echoed his colleague's sentiments, adding: “It’s especially frustrating to be without a game this Saturday.

“We fully understand the logistical challenges the league faces when it comes to rescheduling, but it doesn’t make it any easier for us.

“We’re ready to get back to winning ways, to push on and regain the momentum we had built prior to Christmas.

“Sitting idle for another week is a real blow to our rhythm, and we’re itching to get back on the pitch and start picking up points again.

“It’s all about maintaining momentum—football’s a game of form and confidence, and right now, we’re just eager to play.”

With the promotion race heating up, the Red Badgers will be hoping the weather clears soon.

Third-placed AFC Mansfield took advantage of other games being off as they won 1-0 at Melton Town in one of only matches to beat the weather.

After their trip to Deeping Rangers was called off, Kimberley MW arranged a friendly against West Bridgford at Ilkeston Town to get minutes into legs. They now host Melton Town on Saturday.

NSL Division One leaders Kimberley Reserves enjoyed a 10-0 mauling of second bottom AFC Sandiacre Town.

Managerless Selston’s Division One game at Sandiacre Town also fell foul of the weather and they will host Clipstone on Saturday.
