A history of Ilkeston is next topic for Kimberley Historical Society

Ilkeston-based historian Stephen Flinders will give an illustrated talk to members and visitors to Kimberley Historical Society at the group's March meeting.

The society meets at Kimberley School Community Room

He will take as his starting-point the oldest known map of Ilkeston, dated 1598, and traces a journey from one end of the manor to the other, to discover what everyday life was like for the inhabitants of a typical 16th century township.

The talk is on March 6 at 7.30pm at Kimberley School Community Room, Newdigate Street, accessed from the driveway to Kimberley Sports Centre.

There is plenty of parking almost opposite.

Visitors are welcome; entry fees are £4 towards expenses.
