From a randomly chosen month in local history, Robert will use pages of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire newspapers of the time to see how national events such as nationalisation, the foundation of the NHS and even the weather, impacted on local people.
What was post-war austerity like for people living though it and how does it compare with today?
Robert will also look at the adverts of the time, from the classified ads to jobs and public service announcements.
The meeting will be in Kimberley School's community room on Newdigate Street, starting at 7.30pm.
The room is accessed from the driveway to the leisure centre and there is plenty of parking almost opposite.
Visitors are welcome, for a cost of £4 towards expenses.
