What's On

Opera North's return to the area is not to be missed

Opera North’s talented performers return to Nottingham Theatre Royal for their latest visit soon.

The Magic Flute is one of the treats to be performed by Opera North in March.

An unforgettable journey awaits audiences as a bold reimagining of Wagner’s classic opera The Flying Dutchman comes to the Theatre Royal (March 22).

James Brining’s popular production of The Magic Flute (March 20-21) also returns after its hugely successful 2024 tour, with The Magic Flute Lite offering a shorter daytime option for schools, families and anyone looking for all the magic, enchantment and drama of Mozart’s much-loved opera in a more condensed version.

The following month, the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham presents a concert staging of Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra (April 22) with its dramatic exploration of political intrigue and personal tragedy.

New this season is a reinterpretation of Wagner's radical early masterpiece, The Flying Dutchman, from the critically-acclaimed director/designer team Annabel Arden and Joanna Parker.

Displaced and dispossessed, the Dutchman's crew are condemned to wander the seas for eternity. Every seven years, fate offers them the chance to end this cycle of purgatory but, in a world where money, power and bureaucracy hold sway, it remains to be seen whether they will ever find shelter and sanctuary on land.

Tickets are available for all productions now from trch.co.uk or via the box office on 0115 989 5555.
