Taking place on Wednesday, 23 October 2024, this performance is set to captivate audiences with a programme of timeless works by Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, and Mozart.
The evening opens with selections from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, including the Overture, Nocturne, and Scherzo, which brilliantly evoke the whimsical, dreamlike quality of Shakespeare’s beloved play.
Pianist Alexandra Dariescu, known for championing diversity and female composers, will then bring to life Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto. This piece, composed when Schumann was just a teenager, shows both the technical and emotional depth of the music.
The concert concludes with Mozart’s iconic Symphony No. 41, the Jupiter Symphony. Known for its complexity, this final symphony of Mozart’s career is a true tour de force, blending energy, elegance, and dramatic intensity.
Tickets for this performance are available now, and concertgoers are encouraged to attend the pre-concert talk at 6pm with BBC broadcaster Trisha Cooper, offering insights into the evening’s programme and performers.
