Michelle Pearson’s 'Skinny' sings back at diet culture with heart, humour and a hell of a voice

Award-winning Aussie cabaret star returns to the Fringe, bearing all and starting important conversations.

Michelle Pearson reclaims the mic and the mirror.

Australian multi-award winning cabaret artist Michelle Pearson returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with her one woman show Skinny. Bold, inspiring and personal, Skinny is a celebration of everyone, not matter who you are.

Michelle says: “I began writing it from a hospital bed in 2021, recovering from a third traumatic surgery caused by a procedure I had in my early twenties—done purely to be skinnier. That was the moment I started asking myself what might’ve been different if I hadn’t spent years trying to conform to an impossible ideal.”

This was her turning point.

“We live in a world obsessed with weight and appearance. We praise people for losing kilos instead of their accomplishments and reduce identities to dress sizes. It’s absurd—and dangerous.”

Empowering, confronting and moving, Skinny challenges the beauty myth through music and humour and starts a much-needed conversation about image, self-worth and acceptance.
