This annual event brought together HC-One Scotland care homes from across Lanarkshire and, for the first time, welcomed two new care homes from Falkirk, expanding the community and enhancing the day’s excitement.
Residents and colleagues proudly represented their homes with creative team names such as the Barleystone Bumblebees, the Village Vikings, and last year’s reigning champions, the Kirknowe Kickers. The atmosphere was electric as participants competed in light-hearted events designed to encourage movement, laughter, and friendly rivalry.
After a series of spirited competitions, Douglas View Care Home emerged victorious, earning the championship trophy and plenty of cheers from their supporters. The win was a moment of pride, with residents, staff, and visiting families celebrating the achievement together.
Charlene Curtis, Home Manager at HC-One Scotland’s Douglas View Care Home said: “The sense of joy, unity, and team spirit was truly inspiring.
“It was more than just a sports day—it was a celebration of community, resilience, and fun.
“The event not only offered a platform for physical activity but also helped build lasting connections between residents and colleagues across HC-One Scotland care homes. The camaraderie on display ensured this year’s Sports Day event will be remembered fondly by all who attended.”
