With RHS Chelsea Flower Show just around the corner, an exciting milestone is about to unfold. For the first time in the show’s prestigious history, funeral flowers will be on display—and they're sending a powerful message about sustainability.

The Farewell Flower Directory, a nationwide network of over 200 florists committed to environmentally conscious funeral floristry, is leading the way with a striking foam-free funeral flower installation at RHS Chelsea.

The exhibit highlights how meaningful tributes can also be planet-friendly, designed entirely without floral foam or single-use plastics.

Following Chelsea, the exhibit will be recreated at RHS Wentworth Woodhouse in South Yorkshire this July, extending the conversation around sustainable practices in end-of-life celebrations.

Two Hampshire-based florists will be representing the campaign on the ground:

Kelly Howe from The Flower Artist in Denmead will be joining the team at RHS Chelsea.

Bonnie Parker from Solent Stems Florist in Lee-on-the-Solent will meet visitors at RHS Wentworth.

Visitors will have the opportunity to speak with these local floral artists and learn how sustainable practices are transforming traditional funeral tributes.

Floral foam, often used in funeral arrangements, contains microplastics that do not break down. It’s estimated that UK crematoriums dispose of the equivalent of six Olympic-sized swimming pools full of floral foam and single-use plastic every year.

The Farewell Flower Directory is working to change that—one tribute at a time. To learn more,
