Artesial.co.uk officially launches this May with its first-ever online art fair, running from 16th to 25th May, showcasing the work of 80 Glasgow-based artists.
At a time when artists face increasing barriers to visibility and fair earnings, Artesial is offering something different:
- Open access: All artists are welcome to join — no selection panels, curation hurdles, or gatekeeping.
- Commission-free sales: For this inaugural event, artists will keep 100% of the revenue from every piece they sell.
- Direct connections: Buyers are encouraged to connect directly with artists — no galleries, no middlemen, just real conversations and real opportunities.
Founded in Scotland, by a small group of working artists and marketing experts, Artesial’s vision is to build a nationwide network of artists and collectors, rooted in local communities but reaching across the country. It is a movement for a fairer, more open art world — starting right here in Glasgow.
"We believe artists should have full control over their work and the income it generates," says Angus Walker, co-founder of Artesial. "By removing commission fees and traditional barriers, we're helping more art be seen, loved, and bought — and ensuring artists are properly rewarded for their creativity. In short, collectors get more art for their money and artists get more money for their art. It’s a win-win.”
The inaugural Fair shines a spotlight on the rich creative talent of Glasgow and opens the door for a new way of connecting artists and collectors in Scotland and beyond.
