The showcase brings together the work of a group of photographers who have spent the past year documenting the town’s ever-changing streets—capturing its contrasts, energy, and quieter moments in between.
What started in 2024 as a simple idea—a series of photowalks—quickly grew into a creative community. Led by experienced street photographers Stan Crook, Lee Cobbs, and Kenny McRae, participants took to Blackpool’s streets month after month, exploring its shifting atmosphere. From the buzzing, tourist-filled promenade in peak season to the stark emptiness of winter, their cameras recorded the town’s raw and authentic character. Each session began at Tea Amantes, where ideas were exchanged, techniques were discussed, and—of course—plenty of tea was enjoyed.
Now, their collective work comes together in this exhibition. It’s a celebration of both the town and the people who pass through it—some just for a moment, others for a lifetime. The photographs highlight contrasts: the neon glow of arcades against deserted backstreets, moments of solitude in a place known for entertainment, and the unexpected poetry of everyday life.
The exhibition features work by: Kenny McRae, Lee Cobbs, Stan Crook, Paul Keeling, William Matthews, Dawn Chapman Keeling, Michael Wilson, David Simper,Carroll Pierce, Harry Mountain, Mike Matulewicz.
The opening night on March 3rd (6:30 PM – 8:30 PM) offers a chance to meet the photographers, hear their stories, and experience their work firsthand. The exhibition will run until April 6th, 2025, giving visitors plenty of time to explore the collection (Tea Amantes – Tearoom & Gallery, 53b Albert Rd, Blackpool FY1 4PW).
For anyone who loves photography, storytelling, or simply seeing Blackpool through a different lens, this exhibition is an invitation to step inside, take a closer look, and discover the town in a new way.
