Protein Works has been named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2025, thanks to its collaboration-first culture and employee-led approach to innovation.

The prestigious list celebrates companies across the UK that excel at creating exceptional workplace environments and is compiled using detailed employee feedback covering wellbeing, inclusion, leadership, and growth.

Protein Works, which employs over 150 people, scored highly across all areas, with particularly high rankings against industry benchmarks for job satisfaction, empowerment and confidence in management.

The nutrition brand was included in the round-up within the medium-sized business category and joins other Liverpool-based businesses like jewellery business Boodles and restaurant chain Mowgli Street Food.

Simon Finnie, Head of Talent at Protein Works, commented: "Being named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work is a proud moment for the whole team. We’ve worked hard to build a culture where people feel trusted, empowered, and part of something meaningful. From our production and dispatch teams to our head office and our NPD labs, there’s an energy and ambition that’s truly special – and it all starts with how we support and develop our people."

Laura Keir, CEO of Protein Works, added: "We’re a business that prides itself on doing things differently, and in a world where hybrid and remote working is often seen as ‘best’ for employee satisfaction, it’s great to see that our office-first approach resonates with our colleagues and has resulted in recognition in such a prestigious list.

“We instil high levels of autonomy and responsibility in our teams, which means we offer accelerated career development, but this style of work requires daily in-person collaboration. It might not be the norm in a post-COVID world, but receiving an ‘excellent’ grading from our colleagues on Job Satisfaction in the Sunday Times report speaks volumes.”

Protein Works' inclusion in the list comes after a year of continued growth. In 2024, the business reached a £50.7m turnover milestone, launched innovative new wellness ranges, including new greens drinks, collagen shakes and functional products like Lion’s Mane Limitless and Mushroom Coffee, all while expanding its presence across UK and European markets.

The opening of ‘PW Campus’, which sees the business move from multiple operating sites to one state-of-the-art facility in Speke, also marks a new chapter in the company’s journey, further investing in its people, product innovation, and long-term growth.
