Right at Home UK based in Liverpool walked off with the top prize of the night, Franchisor of the Year (Established), whilst Ally Phillips, franchisee owner of Pink Spaghetti PA Services, which provides a virtual PA service across the Wirral, Ellesmere Port and Runcorn, won Lifestyle Franchisee of the Year.
This year’s BFA HSBC UK British Franchise Awards, the ‘Oscars’ of the franchising world, were held at a glittering black-tie event at the Telford International Centre, in Shropshire. With their tag line of ‘Discover Your Tomorrow’, the BFA is widely recognised as the UK’s self-regulatory body for franchising. The results of their latest national survey in October revealed that the sector contributes £19.1 billion to the UK economy and has a failure rate of just 0.5%. They also saw a 53% growth in the ‘Personal Services’ sector which includes brands such as Right at Home UK and Pink Spaghetti PA Services. Liverpool-based Right at Home UK was founded in 2010 and franchised in 2011. They are a homecare franchise offering premium, personalised, quality care and companionship services to adults in the comfort of their own homes. They currently have 68 franchise owners covering 83 territories.
On winning the ultimate award in franchising, Right at Home UK CEO Lucy Campbell said: “To achieve this highly esteemed award is an absolute honour, and a testament to the incredible focus on quality shared by everyone across our network. This accolade recognises Right at Home as a franchisor, but it is our franchisees, and their incredible commitment to making a real difference in their communities, who inspire our team at National Office to always strive for greatness. Thank you to The BFA and HSBC for hosting a wonderful event – it was truly a proud moment to be able to fly the flag for both brand and sector in this prestigious category and celebrate the most inspiring businesses and franchisees from across the country.”
Ally Phillips, winner of the Lifestyle Franchisee of the Year award, is the franchise owner of Pink Spaghetti PA Services which operates a virtual PA service across the Wirral, Ellesmere Port and Runcorn.
Commenting on her win Ally said: “It’s wonderful that the BFA judges were so impressed that they named me the winner of the Lifestyle Franchisee of the Year Award. I am absolutely delighted to win this award which will undoubtedly open more opportunities for me and my business. My journey has been a real team effort and I’m super grateful to my team for all their hard work and commitment, to Pink Spaghetti head office for their support and mentorship, and to my family for being such fantastic cheerleaders.”
Pip Wilkins, Chief Executive of the BFA said: “This is such a great win for Right at home UK and Ally from Pink Spaghetti. The judges were very impressed by both their entries, despite them both being up against some very stiff competition. We thank them for their hard work and dedication and for being great ambassadors for ethical business format franchising in the UK today.”
UK Head of Franchise at sponsors HSBC UK Gillian Morris said: “Judging the awards is always so hard, but I am forever impressed by the calibre of entries we receive and the achievements of the winners. It was a pleasure to attend the awards this evening and I am glad to report that the UK franchise sector is a buoyant and successful place to do business, and I send my huge congratulations to all the winners.”
