Mon Joli Chien, rated one of the best luxury dog groomers in London, has hit an unprecedented boom in custom - with a 40% increase year-on-year and a two-month wait list.
Nathan Khider, founder of Mon Joli Chien said: “It’s crazy, business is booming, and people are booking in their dogs until 2026.”
The Islington dog groomers is favourite among many celebrities, fashion designers and pop stars since its opening in April 2023.
“We never have more than two dogs groomed at a time and offer a variety of luxury spa treatments, which we believe is our USP for the area”, added Nathan.
Owners are opting for premium, treating their dogs to the salon’s most popular and signature MJC Spa Treatment package, which aims at full body rejuvenation and can cost over £100 with all the extras added in.
Depending on dog size, prices for treatments start at £60, with the other popular choices including:
-The blueberry facial - provides a deep cleanse, brightens the coat and is calming on the skin.
-The banana facial - cleanses, removes dirt and helps to remove stains from the face.
-Luxury Pawdicure - nail clip, file, paw balm and massage.
Nathan added: “Clients are increasingly viewing these treatments as essential, especially for high-maintenance breeds like Cockapoos, Cavapoos, Pomeranians, and Cocker Spaniels, which are the most popular breeds we have as clients.”
Another popular add on and USP for MJC is the Ultrasonic teeth cleaning service, which costs £50 and includes teeth cleaning and plaque removal.
“Aside from this, our dogs are often extensions of our personal style. So, owners invest in grooming as part of that appearance.”
One standout customer is Oscar, a Bernese Mountain Dog, who visits the salon every 3 weeks and has done since the salon opened. His visits cost between £100–£120 each time.
Nathan added: “Oscar is the most loveable soul and never misses an appointment.
“However, with his breed type, his coat can easily trap dirt, debris, and loose hair. Without regular grooming, mats can form, which are painful and can trap moisture, leading to hot spots or skin infections.”
“His owner realises the importance of coat maintenance so is happy to pay for him to be comfortable. They also purchase lots of post-pamper treats from our natural range in store.”
“People see their dogs as extensions of their identity. Luxury grooming is no longer a niche, but part of a lifestyle choice.”
Once homeless and living in his car, Nathan left school at 15 without GCSEs before carving out a career in real estate and becoming a self-made millionaire. He also featured in season 3 of BBC’s Traitors as a Faithful.
