With over 80 competing teams, a growing list of prestigious partners, and new challenges designed to test the very limits of electric vehicle technology, the 2025 London to Brighton EV Rally marks a major milestone. More than a race, it’s a celebration of how far we’ve come in just half a decade—and how far we still intend to go.
Technology vs Tradition: A Tyre Showdown
One of the most talked-about new features this year is a bold head-to-head challenge between standard road tyres and specialist EV tyres. The rally will serve as a live testbed to examine how cutting-edge tyre technology affects range, performance, and efficiency—especially when every watt matters.
Leading the charge is Hankook Tyre UK, making their debut as a key partner. Hankook will be showcasing their EV-dedicated iON evo line, engineered to reduce rolling resistance and increase battery conservation without sacrificing comfort or handling. As drivers power their way through London, Surrey, and into Sussex, the difference between traditional and EV-optimised tyres will be put to the test—live, on the road, under real-world conditions.
“We are thrilled to partner with the iconic London to Brighton Rally,” said Chang Yool Han, Managing Director of Hankook Tyre UK. “It’s a brilliant opportunity to demonstrate how tyre innovation plays a pivotal role in sustainable mobility. We look forward to seeing our EV tyres perform under the spotlight.”
A Record Breaker Returns
Among the 80+ entrants, one name stands out: Kevin Booker, the Guinness World Record holder for EV battery conservation. Known for squeezing every mile from a single charge, Booker will return in 2025 to push the boundaries even further. Can he set a new benchmark under rally conditions? We’ll soon find out.
Five Years of Clean Ambition
Since its inception, the rally has grown from a handful of hopeful enthusiasts to a national movement. It now attracts thousands of attendees, scores of media outlets, and the backing of leading automotive brands. Over 120 EVs will descend on the seafront, with vehicles ranging from high-performance electric sports cars to lovingly converted classics and electric mopeds.
To mark the fifth anniversary, rally organisers have pulled out all the stops. Madeira Drive in Brighton will be transformed into a celebration zone, complete with test drives, live music, charging demonstrations, food trucks, family entertainment, and more.
From China to the Channel: BYD Back for Year Three
Returning for its third consecutive year is global EV powerhouse BYD UK, showcasing their ever-expanding range of passenger cars, taxis, and commercial vehicles. Their Brighton showcase will allow the public to explore BYD’s world-class innovations first-hand.
“BYD remains a cornerstone of the rally’s success,” said Harrison Hughes, Event Director. “They’ve been with us since the early days, and their commitment to building a sustainable future aligns perfectly with our ethos.”
Ford & Dinnages Join the Journey
Another exciting addition in 2025 is the inclusion of Ford, in partnership with Dinnages Ford Brighton, who will be presenting the eagerly anticipated Ford Puma Gen-E.
“We’re proud to be part of an event that champions the future of mobility,” said Chris Dorrington, Sales Manager at Dinnages. “As a Brighton business since 1935, this rally reflects our long-standing connection to the community and to sustainable innovation.”
New Faces, Big Impact: Welcome Maeving
British electric motorbike pioneers Maeving will also be revving into Brighton for the first time this June. Known for their elegant retro designs and urban sustainability credentials, Maeving’s presence adds a two-wheeled dimension to the rally’s growing appeal.
“We’re thrilled to be involved,” said Maeving co-founder Seb Inglis-Jones. “Events like this allow us to connect with riders and show that electric motorcycles are not only viable—they’re exciting, stylish, and practical.”
Charge, Drive, Explore: A Rally with a Twist
For the first time, the rally will fully integrate with Charge & Drive, a hands-on EV experience area allowing members of the public to test the latest vehicles in a zero-pressure setting. Attendees can hop into models from BYD, Ford, Mercedes and more—getting a true feel for life behind the wheel of an EV.
Expert demonstrations will demystify home charging, rapid charging, and solar-assisted solutions, with input from Believ, the rally’s official charging partner.
For a Great Cause: Macmillan Cancer Support
This year’s rally is proud to partner with Macmillan Cancer Support as its official charity. Look out for fundraising stations and team challenges that help drive funds and awareness for people living with cancer. From bucket collections to branded vehicles, the spirit of giving will be as powerful as the EVs themselves.
The RAC Returns for Recovery
Once again, the RAC will be keeping everything rolling smoothly, returning for their fifth year as official recovery partner. Their electric support vans and patrol crews will be on hand throughout the day, ensuring every vehicle completes the journey safely.
Party at the i360: The Awards Finale
The day culminates with a VIP Awards Party at the Brighton i360, where competitors, sponsors, and guests will gather to celebrate achievements, hand out trophies, and raise a glass to five years of progress. With live entertainment, food, and spectacular views over the Channel, it’s the perfect way to end a very electric day.
“This isn’t just about electric vehicles anymore,” said Harrison Hughes. “It’s about a cultural shift. It’s about showing people that EVs are ready for today—not just tomorrow. We’ve built something truly special over these five years, and we’re proud to keep pushing the boundaries.”
So whether you’re an EV driver, tech enthusiast, or just curious about the future of transport, make sure you’re on the road—or on the sidelines—on Saturday 21st June 2025.
