World Hearing Day, held annually on 3 March by the World Health Organisation (WHO), raises awareness about hearing loss prevention and hearing care worldwide.

The event will take place at Specsavers Eltham, from 9am to 6pm, and will feature giveaways, including vouchers and informational leaflets, as well as delicious ear-shaped cookies available for small donation.

The funds will be donated to the charity, Hearing Dogs, specially trained dogs to help those with hearing loss by alerting them to important sounds and providing them with companionship and emotional support.

Throughout the day, the Specsavers Eltham team will be dressed in hearing t-shirts and badges to show their support, and a donation box will be placed at the till, with all proceeds from cookie sales and donations going directly to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

‘We’re thrilled to be hosting this event in support of such an important cause,” says Gina Gologan, Audiology Director at Specsavers Eltham.

‘Hearing loss affects so many people and it is important to raise awareness and support charities like Hearing Dogs who provide life-changing support. We invite everyone in the community to come along, enjoy some treats and help us make a difference.’

Specsavers Eltham’s specialist audiology team offers a range of hearing services, including hearing tests, hearing aid sales, wax removal, hearing protection and repairs. They are also available to provide general guidance and support to the community on hearing health.

Specsavers Eltham can be visited at 82-84 High Street, Eltham, Greater London, SE9 1BW.
