On Tuesday, June 3, Deputy Mayor Meah attended live performances by Graffiti Classics at Rosary Catholic Primary School, Chatsworth Primary School, and Fairholme Primary School, where pupils were treated to a lively and interactive string quartet show filled with music, movement, and laughter.
Two days later, on Thursday, June 5, Mayor Croft continued the celebrations with visits to Hounslow Town Primary School, Norwood Green Junior School, and Smallberry Green Primary School.
The Playground Proms, created by comedy string quartet Graffiti Classics, deliver high-energy workshops in school playgrounds, merging classical music education with dynamic performances.
The 2025 tour marks the project’s most ambitious year yet, aiming to reach over 73,000 children across 15 UK regions, including Hounslow—one of its newest stops.
The initiative, originally launched in 2021 as a response to Covid-19 restrictions, has since reached nearly 50,000 children in 160 schools, offering a unique way to learn about rhythm, composition, conducting, and iconic classical pieces. Each workshop also includes student performances of the Playground Proms anthem, created in advance with the help of school staff.
Playground Proms continues its tour through July, supported by Arts Council England and local Music Hubs. Hounslow's participation is part of a broader effort to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has the chance to connect with music.
