Bellway London’s homes at Barking Riverside shortlisted for two national awards

Bellway London’s new homes at Barking Riverside are in the running for two national awards.

Bellway London’s Barking Project Team – which is building new homes at Barking Riverside (pictured from above) – has been shortlisted for two national awards.

The housebuilder, which is in the process of delivering 2,300 homes at its Fielders Quarter and Eastbrooke Village sites within Barking Riverside, has been shortlisted for Regeneration Project of the Year at the Construction News Awards, which will be announced in July.

The Point at Eastbrooke Village – where Bellway London is building 167 new homes – is also a finalist in the Best Off-Plan Development category at the First Time Buyer Awards. The winner of this award will be announced in September.

Bellway London is playing a significant role in the Barking Riverside project, which is transforming more than 400 acres of land – on the former Barking Power Station site on the north bank of the River Thames – into a sustainable and attractive new neighbourhood.

David Burns, Managing Director of Bellway London’s Barking Project Team, said: “Being recognised by these two national awards is a huge accolade for our dedicated Barking team, which is building new homes at Fielders Quarter and Eastbrooke Village within Barking Riverside.

“This is a flagship project for Bellway London, delivering much-needed new housing for Londoners within a well-connected community which has also been planned with shops, schools, parks and open spaces.

“Around 90 per cent of buyers are from within 10 miles of the site, showing the project is clearly meeting a local need for housing. And importantly, this is somewhere that people can take their first step on the property ladder, with first-time buyers accounting for 65 per cent of purchasers so far.

“The last couple of years have seen a step change in construction, with several key milestones reached in the past 12 months, including the completion of a gym, the east-west linear park at Fielders Quarter, and a work hub offering dedicated workspace for those working from home.

“We’ve now started work on the fifth phase at Fielders Quarter which will include the tallest building to date within Barking Riverside, providing an impressive new landmark on the skyline.”

Building work is now coming to an end within the fourth phase of Fielders Quarter – Fielders Quarter West Circus – where 205 of the 229 homes have been completed.
