Former Revolut CEO James Radford appointed as Chief Executive of Volopa

Volopa, a leading provider of global payments, multicurrency corporate cards, and employee expense management solutions, has appointed James Radford as its new Chief Executive Officer.

James Radford Chief Executive of Volopa

Radford, the former CEO of Revolut, brings a wealth of experience to Volopa as the company continues its ambitious growth strategy.

Radford led Revolut between 2020 and 2023, during which time the company’s valuation surged from $5.5 billion to $33 billion. With over 30 years of experience in financial services, Radford has held senior leadership roles at American Express, HBOS, and Lloyds Banking Group, where he served as Head of Banking Operations across business, commercial, and wholesale banking. Additionally, he has spearheaded fintech innovation in executive roles at Aldermore Bank and as CEO of the Cheque Clearing business, where he oversaw the UK banking industry’s transition to digital cheque imaging.

In his new role, Radford will drive Volopa’s expansion, working alongside a bolstered senior management team. The company strengthened its leadership in 2023 with the acquisition of the UK branch of the American Express (Amex) FX team.

"In a market often plagued by opaque solutions, excessive charges, and inadequate AI-driven customer service, Volopa stands out by leveraging cutting-edge technology and real-world human interaction to meet and exceed customer expectations," said James Radford, CEO of Volopa. "This is an exciting time for the sector, as more businesses recognise the need for alternatives to traditional banks and seek the agility and innovation that fintechs like Volopa offer."

Volopa provides secure, efficient, and cost-effective international payments from the UK and EEA to 180 countries worldwide. With its smart prepaid multicurrency company cards and integrated expense management platform, the company is redefining corporate financial solutions for a new era of global business.
