Game on: Holloway funeral home unveils local kit sponsorship

A funeral home in Holloway is showing its support for the local community by sponsoring a local youth team’s new kit.

The team at Co-op Funeralcare Holloway, on Holloway Road, has donated £400 to supply Chapel Youth Football Club with new sky-blue kits.

Chapel Youth Football Club supports children in Holloway to be active and enjoy a team-building sport in a community environment. Boys and girls are welcome to join Chapel Youth from the age of 9 and the club aims to bring excellent footballing opportunities to the town for all generations to enjoy

The partnership was organised by Craig Liddiard, Funeral Director at Co-op Funeralcare Holloway, who approached the club’s managers to explore ways the branch could support the grassroots organisation, which is making a real difference to children who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford their football kits in the area.

As well as coordinating the sponsorship, Craig has since joined the club’s coaching staff, supporting midweek training and weekend matches. The kit’s new look has been well received by players and their families, with many commenting on the standout colour and design.

Co-op Funeralcare Holloway will also be sponsoring the club’s awards presentation evening, with the donation of £250 for medals, to celebrate the club finishing the season as league champions.

Craig Liddiard said: “We’re proud to be part of the Holloway community – and supporting Chapel Youth Football Club is one of the ways we can give back. The club provides a brilliant outlet for young people, and it’s been fantastic to get more involved and see the team thrive.

“The club has finished the season as league champions, giving young players another reason to wear the new kits with pride. We are also proud to announce that we will be supporting Chapel Youth FC to ensure their champions enjoy a well-deserved awards night.”

Lee Patrick, owner of Chapel Youth FC, said: “Since Co-op Funeralcare Holloway began sponsoring us, the club has been in a much stronger position. When we revealed the new kit to our players and parents, they immediately loved the shirts.

“It’s inspiring to see a local business supporting our community and bringing smiles to our players. Chapel Youth FC is excited to continue working with Co-op Funeralcare in future fundraising events, strengthening our partnership and community spirit.”
