Silkworm sees Roberts telling the truth behind the stories of her life that have been spun over the years. Did she really need double-jaw surgery? Was she Henry VIII in a past life? Why did it take her so long to come out as queer? Is it ok that she kissed a virtual replica of her cousin on The Sims video game? And most importantly, why is no one else as obsessed with Candy Crush as she is?
Sarah says: "I'm so excited to be performing at Soho Theatre and The Bill Murray on my tour! I've been watching comedy at both venues for years, way before I ever even thought about starting stand-up myself. My show is about delusion and self-belief, so ending the tour at two of London's most iconic comedy venues feels like a perfect full circle moment. Especially as The Bill Murray is where I did the first ever work-in-progress of this show! Silkworm is very much written for the girls, so I'm hoping to pack out these final shows with the girlies."
During the Edinburgh Fringe, Silkworm, directed by Dan Emery and Molly Stacey, was named a “stand-out show” by a range of news outlets including Rolling Stone, The Guardian, PinkNews and The iPaper. EdFringe Review praised the show, calling it “an ode to womanhood.”
Roberts, self-described as “the world’s youngest, smallest, most normal comedian,” has been named in the Guardian’s “Six of the funniest comedians at the Fringe” and was one of Rolling Stone’s 12 “Rising Stars” of 2024. Some of her award nominations include Komedia New Comedy Award finalist 2023, Leicester Square New Act runner-up 2022 and BBC New Comedy Award regional finalist 2024.
