Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Hohe Tauern National Park, just 70km south of Salzburg, Moar Gut is a 10-hectare car-free nature resort, which blends refined luxury with authentic nature experiences, offering an eco-conscious escape tailored for multigenerational families. With just 46 spacious suites, an on-site organic farm, riding stables, a fully plastic-free children’s nature centre and Salzburg’s first Lillee Baby Spa, the resort is perfectly suited to discerning families of all ages looking for a nature-focused retreat. Family-run by the Kendlbacher family since 1995, with four generations involved and two children actively participating in the business, Moar Gut offers more than just a stay; it offers a reimagined way for families to travel together, in harmony with nature.
Sustainability First
Sustainability is at the heart of Moar Gut, embedded from the very beginning through the use of locally sourced, eco-friendly materials in its construction. Underground parking, equipped with EV charging stations, helps maintain the 10-hectare nature resort as entirely car-free, while a private spring supplies pure water for both drinking and swimming. The resort uses mostly chemical-free cleaning methods and provides guests with local, vegan natural cosmetics such as MARíAS®. Its award-winning, children’s nature centre has been honoured with the BIG SEE Interior Award and Green Product Award, and the entire resort is proudly certified with the GreenSign sustainability seal.
Accomodation
Moar Gut offers 46 spacious family suites and 2 double rooms (ranging from 25–115 m²), thoughtfully designed for families of up to seven guests. Each suite includes a separate children’s room, air conditioning, integrated sound system, and a baby monitor. Newly introduced garden suites feature a private garden and outdoor bathtub, ideal for families seeking added privacy and relaxation. All suites are crafted using sustainable materials such as white fir, ash wood, and repurposed pine, and come with either a balcony, terrace, or garden. For families travelling with young children, the resort also offers a comprehensive baby and toddler package, including a changing table, baby cot, pushchair, fall-out protection, and freshly prepared baby food.
Wellness Wonders
An expansive wellness and water world welcomes guests to a serene escape for all ages, featuring a 25 m infinity outdoor pool, a natural swimming lake, and a panoramic indoor pool. Families can enjoy baby and children’s pools treated with gentle salt water, while adults relax in the dedicated adults only spa area, which includes herbal and Finnish saunas, a steam room, infrared cabin, and whirlpool. A separate family sauna ensures guests of all ages can enjoy the wellness experience together. The resort also features a unique Lillee Baby Spa, offering specialised treatments and development-focused care for its youngest guests. Stylish relaxation rooms and a calming tea lounge provide the perfect post-treatment retreat, with a wide range of spa treatments available for adults, children, and expectant mothers - including indulgent options such as the signature chocolate massage available for the more adventurous.
Dining and Culinary Excellence
Moar Gut offers a gourmet full-board dining experience that includes breakfast, lunch, afternoon cakes, and a six-course evening meal. Much of the produce is sourced directly from the resort’s own organic farm and hunting grounds. Families benefit from a child-friendly buffet and a dedicated baby bar featuring freshly prepared purées and formula. Weekly wine tastings are led by in-house sommelier Thomas Kendlbacher, and the resort holds the AMA Culinary Seal in recognition of its commitment to regional food quality.
Children’s Paradise
Award-winning children’s facilities really set the resort apart; Moar Gut provides daily childcare from 9am to 9pm for children ranging from 30 days old to teenagers. The 1,000 m² children’s nature centre includes features such as a sensory trail, slides, a creativity workshop, reading nook, ball pool filled with 40,000 golden organic balls, a theatre, and a cinema. Most recently, the resort introduced a gaming room equipped with Multiball and an interactive reaction wall, alongside a six-metre-high indoor trampoline hall. A wide selection of age-appropriate courses are also available, including climbing, swimming, riding, and skiing.
Family Adventure
Beyond the children’s nature centre, families and loved ones can connect with nature through hands-on experiences at its organic farm, home to cows, ponies, goats, chickens, alpacas, and the beloved donkey Benjamin, all kept in spacious, species-appropriate enclosures. Children can take part in animal sponsorships, complete with personalised name signs and certificates. The resort also features 14 Icelandic horses, an indoor riding arena, and offers riding lessons, trekking tours, and horse-drawn sleigh rides in winter. Year-round activities include family hikes, sunrise walks, and bike tours, with direct access to over 250 km of hiking trails and 40 mountain huts with playgrounds, all starting right from the resort doorstep.
