The company exhibited two scissor lifts fitted with SkySiren® PCS™ for Scissors, an intelligent secondary guarding system that uses ultrasonic sensors to detect potential overhead entrapment hazards. If a risk is detected, the system automatically halts movement and issues audio-visual alerts before contact occurs. Unlike more basic systems, it provides protection both while lifting and while driving at height.
Technical experts were also on hand to talk about Harness ON™, Nationwide Platforms’ award-winning intelligent anchor point system. Harness ON™ is a market-first system that uses an inductive anchor point and integrated lanyard chip to ensure operators are securely clipped in before the machine will operate, reducing the risk of falls caused by oversight or non-compliance
Together, these systems reflect a growing industry shift toward automation, prevention, and safety by design.
“This is our first time at UK Construction Week London,” said Simon Beckett, Sales Director at Nationwide Platforms. “We were delighted to engage directly with contractors, site teams and specifiers and show that safer systems aren’t a future ambition, they’re already here.”
“These devices were made possible by our collaboration with OEMs and our customers, and we want to encourage further collaboration so that we can help define a new and better standard of safety across the industry.”
The visit comes as a growing number of contractors and clients begin to mandate intelligent safety systems like Harness ON™ as part of their on-site requirements, a sign that the market is moving away from relying on behaviour alone, and toward safety that is automated, intuitive, and built in by default.
