Sports charity gets boost from London Marathon

Ten runners will line up for the TCS London Marathon on Sunday morning as part of a Sported team raising valuable funds for grassroots sport.

Courtenay Escorcio is running for Sported

The charity's contingent includes representatives from its board of trustees, staff and partners, as well as those ready to push themselves through 41 kilometres on the streets of the city to support the cause.

The crew, sporting Sported’s unique logo, range from first-timers to old hands over the distance in what is expected to be the largest entry field since the storied event began in 1981.

“They’re an amazing bunch,” said Sported CEO Sarah Kaye. “We’re incredibly appreciative of their hard training to get the start line and we’ll be cheering them all the way to Pall Mall and the finish. And every penny raised in sponsorship is going to allow us to do more to transform lives through sport across the country.”

Courtenay Escorcio, Sported Associate Trustee, added: “I’ve been on the Board of Sported since last year and have been incredibly impressed by their commitment to wanting every young person to have the same opportunity to fulfil their potential, and using sport as a mechanism for this. Their work is incredibly important in helping community groups to survive, which is especially important given current funding pressures.”
