The UK’s top ten tech travel essentials for 2025

A study of 2,000 Brits by campaign group Project Shout has revealed the UK’s top tech travel essentials – our phones unsurprisingly topped the list, with more than three quarters (76%) of Brits taking their phones on their travels.

Coming in second, over half (51%) of us choose to take a trusty travel adaptor, while 42% of Brits pack a portable charger.

Holiday tunes are clearly a must have too, with over a third (34%) of Brits taking headphones on holiday, and 1 in 10 (10%) packing a portable speaker.

While three quarters of respondents take their phones away, over a quarter (27%) if us still take a camera too, to help us capture holiday memories. Almost a quarter (24%) of Brits take an iPad or tablet, while 15% take a laptop away.

It’s clear that there is a generational divide when it comes to what Brits consider to be tech travel essentials; 6 in 10 18–24-year-olds take headphones away, while just 1 in 10 (11%) of those aged 65 and over say the same.

Similarly, just over a third (35%) of 18–24-year-olds take a travel adaptor, and almost a third (30%) take their laptop - compared to over half (57%) of those 65 and over taking a travel adaptor, and less than 1 in 10 (9%) taking a laptop.

In terms of travel, tech savvy Brits are prepared for most eventualities – but when it comes to protecting ourselves and our loved ones on holiday, just 4% of UK residents take a portable CO alarm on holiday.

Whether you’re planning a family holiday abroad or a short staycation with friends in the UK, you should always Go with CO. An audible carbon monoxide detector is the only way to be alerted to a carbon monoxide leak, as the gas can’t be smelt, tasted or seen.

By packing a portable CO alarm in your suitcase, you will have peace of mind to enjoy your holiday, knowing you’re protected from the dangers of carbon monoxide.

Project Shout is a campaign group raising awareness about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning and the importance of having a carbon monoxide alarm. To learn more, visit  https://projectshout.com
