Two out of three of the projects also marked major milestones London, with Timber Square being recognised as largest hybrid steel structure in London to date, whilst 2 Aldermanbury Square was earmarked as one of the most environmentally progressive new buildings in the city.
William Hare brought its expertise in hybrid construction to Timber Square, which is located in Southwark, south London. The development compromised of two buildings - an extended 1950s printworks where 80% of the existing structure was reused, and a new 15-storey building.
The project which is the largest hybrid steel / Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) structure in central London saw William Hare Group fabricate and install 2800 Tonnes of structural steelwork, and 34,000 sq m of CLT.
2 Aldermanbury Square is a 13-storey office building located close to St Paul’s Cathedral and has been recognised as one of the most environmentally progressive new buildings in the City of London, which will become home to international law firm, Clifford Chance.
As part of the project, William Hare installed circa 4,500 Tonnes of structural steelwork and a unique passageway over London Wall into the Guildhall buildings via a skywalk beneath level 3 of 2 Aldermanbury Square.
The final project in the trio was One Liverpool Street. An innovative 10-storey office scheme, this project was a complex feat of engineering being built above three major railway lines, including London Underground and Elizabeth Line, and wrapping around a six-storey Crossrail ventilation shaft.
All three projects have been delivered in tandem, demonstrating the strength and adaptability of William Hare’s team, and its ability to respond to multiple projects across different site at any one time.
Matthew Nesbit, Group Board Director at William Hare said: “As a business, we are proud to be playing our part in reshaping the evolving skyline of the capital. These three projects show not only our ability to deliver world class schemes but to also manage challenges whether that be working above live rail networks or within small footprints.
“The team’s dynamism, ingenuity and experience have meant that all three of these projects have met the highest standards our clients expect and showcase how we’re able to deliver multiple large-scale projects simultaneously whilst embracing new innovations.”
